max's turn

It was Max's turn to fall apart today. His math worksheet was almost all wrong and it was obviously because he was not reading the questions carefully. He got really upset and started telling me he would fail 3rd grade and be stupid forever.

I took out his standardized test scores from last year and explained what his results meant. He is feeling pretty good about himself, now.

Of course, when I saw his results, I immediately thought of George Abraham, a boy I went to high school with. He failed AP American history, but scored a FIVE (best) on the exam. It's all about how you apply yourself. It's one thing to have a mind, and something entirely different to know how to use it. Or even to just decide to use it at all.
