cooking/baking

I enjoy cooking and baking, I really do. But even though I can read and I can do math, somehow, my end products frequently are not what I expect them to be.
Sometimes it is because I don't read the directions thoroughly. Sometimes, it is because I don't know what something are and make a bad guess. But usually, it is because of the evil spirit that lives in my kitchen that hexes everything I do.
