Jesus Came for Everyone

God has a wonderful way of making bad situations work out for good.

· The stoning of Stephen was horrific and it caused the new Christians to scatter, but they took the Good News of Jesus with them and many people in other cities and countries came to know Christ.
· Saul, who we now know by the Roman name Paul, tried to preach in Jewish synagogues, but was threatened by the Jewish leaders, and so turned his attention to the Gentiles, allowing people who did not know God to come to know Christ.
· A dark and sinful world was given a second chance when a baby was born in a barn.

We know that Jesus came for everyone and He wants us to all come to know Him. “Everyone” includes boys and girls, people of all races, grown ups and children, people who like football and those who don’t. It even includes the nice people who might think they are so good that they don’t need Jesus, and the mean people who we might think don’t deserve Him. The Bible tells us that every one of us has sinned. And if we have sinned, then we can’t be close to God. Jesus came to wash away those sins and to pull us close to Him. On the other hand, there is no place in the Bible that counts how many sins are too many for Jesus. No one is too evil or too bad for Jesus to love. So, He also came for the people who have done horrible things.
I think that covers everyone. Is there anyone who Jesus did not come to earth to save? Jesus came for everyone.

So when we think about Christmas, we need to try not to be overwhelmed by the presents, and the food, and the decorations. We need to remember the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. We celebrate Christmas because it is when God sent Jesus to earth to take away our sins and bring us close to Him. And He did it for everyone.
