Blue and Gold Banquet, 2009

The Blue&Gold Banquet was last night. The banquet is to celebrate scouting and is always near the founder's birthday (Baden-Powell).

The highlights of the night are the cake competition, the dens' skits, and the leader's skit.

Max wanted to make a model of his pinewood derby car, The Pinewood Derby Cake.










The cake was a chocolate 13"x9" sheet and cut in two, then part of one half was carved for the top. Max (with some help) iced the car and then we put it in the freezer for a while. Rice Krispie Treats were used as the wood that held the cars up and Ding Dongs were the wheels. Max put little dots of white icing on the Ding Dongs to be the axles.

This is Den 5 with their cowboy skit. Can you see Max? I'm not sure what he's doing. No matter how much they prepare, some of the boys forget to project (or just don't have the ability) and/or get silly. A couple of the boys are good at being on the stage and they all really enjoy it.

This is the leader's skit. Can you see me? I was the lead bad guy, Rude Red Roy. My brother, Bad Blue Bart and I took the town treasure and kidnapped the Damsel In Distress. I made the Damsel's dress. Isn't it lovely?

Oh, and Max won 2nd place for most Patriotic Cake! As the Cub Master announced, he won twice with that car (actually three times-the race, too!) third place most patriotic as a car and second place as a cake!
